Multidrug-Resistant Pathogens in Hospitalized Syrian Children
Since 2013, wounded and ill children from Syria have received treatment in Israel. Screening cultures indicated that multidrug-resistant (MDR) pathogens colonized 89 (83%) of 107 children. For 58% of MDR infections, the pathogen was similar to that identified during screening. MDR screening of these children is valuable for purposes of isolation and treatment.
متن کاملStratifying risk factors for multidrug-resistant pathogens in hospitalized patients coming from the community with pneumonia.
BACKGROUND Not all risk factors for acquiring multidrug-resistant (MDR) organisms are equivalent in predicting pneumonia caused by resistant pathogens in the community. We evaluated risk factors for acquiring MDR bacteria in patients coming from the community who were hospitalized with pneumonia. Our evaluation was based on actual infection with a resistant pathogen and clinical outcome during...
متن کاملProposed risk factors for infection with multidrug-resistant pathogens in hemodialysis patients hospitalized with pneumonia
BACKGROUND In patients with hemodialysis-associated pneumonia (HDAP), information on both microbiologic features and antimicrobial strategies is limited. The aim of this study is to investigate predictive factors of infection with multidrug-resistant (MDR) pathogens in HDAP patients. METHODS This was a multicenter, retrospective, and observational study. Enrolled patients were classified into...
متن کاملWhat’s new in multidrug-resistant pathogens in the ICU?
Over the last several decades, antibacterial drug use has become widespread with their misuse being an ever-increasing phenomenon. Consequently, antibacterial drugs have become less effective or even ineffective, resulting in a global health security emergency. The prevalence of multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs) varies widely among regions and countries. The primary aim of antibiotic stewar...
متن کاملSpread of multidrug-resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae among hospitalized children in Slovakia.
A multidrug-resistant serotype 14 strain of Streptococcus pneumoniae was isolated from sterile-site specimens and nasopharyngeal secretions from > 200 children in Slovakia between 1985 and 1990. Nasopharyngeal culture surveys were done to determine the extent of spread and means of transmission of this strain. The resistant strain was isolated from cultures of 8 (33.0%) of 24 children at hospit...
